Report: I finally made my first trip of the season after postponing a few by listening to the weathermen. I joined 10 other anglers this morning on the Misty Morn bouncing sinkers for flounder. We spent the entire trip on a single drop in 13-14' of water off of Keyport. Although we had worms and clams as bait, the Mud Marlins seemed to be choosing the clams over the worms. I boated the first fish on the boat less than 15 minutes into the trip. That wasn't good as it took a couple of hours for me to find my next fish of the day. We picked at the flounder all morning on the flood until we lost the tide. The hope was that fish would turn on during the slack, as they should, but that wasn't the case. The afternoon ebb produced fish again although the bite was sporadic at best. The fish would only bite on the moving tide and the other boats in the area did not appear to be catching as well as us due to their constant moving from spot to spot. The boat totaled @35 keeper flounder with @10 throwbacks. I managed to box 4 keepers that were all in the 14-15" range. The lack of sunshine coupled with the persistent southeast wind and the cold water in brings seems to have hurt us today. The flounder are there for the catching. Favorable winds and some sunshine wouldn't hurt at all. Tight Lines! (TINKNOCKER)
