Report: Since the local fluke season has not started, and since the bluefish have not arrived, I spent a few days targeting bull redfish out of Venice Louisiana. Using strickly lures, my biggest on Day #1 went 37 pounds, while on Day #2, the biggest weighed 46 pounds. What was interesting about the 46 pounder, I caught it sight fishing in 18 inches of water. The redfish was cruising the surf line feeding on larget mullet until he spied my Strike King saltwater poison lure (chartreuse). It grabbed my lure and stayed in the breakers instead of heading for deep water. One night, we had grilled redfish for supper while the next night we had bronzed cajon redfish...great!!
