Report:
The Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association reports its boats are catching fish. Captain Fran Verdi on his boat “Catch the Drop Off” has been catching a combination of big bluefish, black drum, and striped bass. On a scouting trip Verdi picked off a 22-pound drum in the bay behind Beach Haven. Despite howling winds, his Saturday party picked off quite a few slammer blues around Little Eg Inlet in the 10-pound range on clams meant for bass. Brett Boyanowski was high hook with 7 fish. Captain Adam Nowalsky of the “Karen Ann II” reports good tog action on fish to 7-pounds with catches averaging 75-100 per trip. His high hooks have been Harry Keleshian and Al Moretti. He will now switch to sea bass on the wrecks and big bluefish in Great Bay. Captain Lindsay Fuller will bring the “June Bug” north for the season by this weekend.
