Subject: Sandy Hook Bay, New Jersey

Submitted by Jim Balicki (ip 71.187.234.129)

  • Fished on 5/1/2008

    Water Temperature: .
Water Clarity: Better than usual for the bay
Seas: Choppy, becoming a very light chop toward sunset
Weather: Partly cloudy, brisk wind parallel to the beach, shifting to offshore.
    Fishing_for: Bluefish
    Boat: None, beach fishing
    captain: .

    Report:
Starting 3 hours before high tide, and fishing to almost 3 hours after, I was able to land 12 bluefish. Best action was in the evening, on outgoing tide. Wading out onto a sandbar and throwing a 1-1/2oz Gator spoon as far as possible resulted in frequent hits from bluefish up to about 8#.
