Report:
"You should have been here yesterday" was Rob's greeting this morning when he arrived at the boat. The boats did very well on Saturday when I had originally intended to fish, but, Rob wasn't very optimistic with the weather report for Saturday when I spoke to him on Friday night. I was hoping the stripers were still in the feeding mode as we headed to Romer Shoal where they had fished yesterday. Our first drop of the day produced 4 keeper bass along with some bluefish and never amounted to what they had caught on Saturday. A short move up on the Knoll produced another flurry of bass and bluefish, but that bite fizzled also after a short while. Again we pulled the anchor and made a slight adjustment a short distance away on some decent readings. The fish started biting immediately and for the next 2 1/2 hours we caught bass & blues at a steady pace.
The largest bass of the day was a beautiful 25# fish, landed by a young fisherman. It happened to be his first ever striped bass. Unfortunately, his dad had neglected to enter him in the pool. Everyone on board managed to catch fish today. I managed to hook 11 bass, landing ten and loosing 1 near the boat. Out of the 10, 8 were of keeper size up to the 2 I kept kept at 14# each. The other 2 fell just short of 28". Clams were the "bait du jour", fished on a fish finder rig with @ 4 oz's of weight. Tight Lines! (TINKNOCKER)
