THIS IS WHY I LOVE FISHING!!!
saturday-lots of bunker schools moving north-south in the kayak all day lost 3 big stripers to jumping out of the kayak, broken snap, and hookspit 4 ft from the boat (at least 35-40"+ fish) also had a few blues take everything leader and all, so I was 0/6 and went home discouraged. Checked it with a neighbor later round 5pm and bunker was getting demolished 2 casts out again moving north-south, ran home and got the kayak paddled out bass crashing the surfing all over the school, huge fish! Hands shaking snagged a bunker and. . .NOTHING! The bait and bass took off to the south at sprint pace and I couldn't keep up paddling headwind with a kayak, there were no other schools behind it, went home again discouraged. Tying leaders at home at 700pm I say I'm done I don't care if someone calls and says there's fish all over the beach, the phone rings there's fish on the beach in lavallette shoot down to surf club and. . .IT WAS INSANE!! Huge bass crushing bunker right on the beach like a fall blitz but instead of 20" fish these were all big. Snagged and immediately hooked up landed a 38" right in front of the surf club to the cheers of hundreds of partying drunk people (the other people fishing had no idea how to fish, bennys) then chased em a block down and snagged for a 40". It got dark and a tstorm cam so I left.
sunday-tied stronger leaders and landed 2 in the kayak 38" and 34.5" then it slowed mid day picked up again around 5pm lost a big on a run off an another stole it real quick then the bunker kind of just disappeared and that was that
monday am-looks pretty dead
p.s.may have seen a thresher shark out of the corner of my eye saturday in bunker school that was getting torn up by blues something HUGE came up and whacked the surface and it wasn't a dolphing cuz it was single
