    Report:
On the way out we found a pod of bunker between Bay Head and Mantoloking. Snagged and live lined a couple with no results. The only thing I saw chasing the bunker were a couple of Thresher sharks. One came almost completely out of the water in the middle of the pod. I didn't hear any bass reoprts on the radio either, lots of bunker reports but no bass. We left the bunker to the sharks and started fluking just along the east edge of the Axel Carlson reef. There are a few lumps just east of the edge of the reef we worked for 5 keeper fluke to 21.5 inches and more than two dozen throw backs. We used killies with 4 inch Gulp swimming mullets for bait. Color didn't seem to matter too much as chartreuse, pink and white all caught fish.
