Report:
Well what a week it has been the offshore fishing just been down right slow for us a Wahoo bite here & there maybe a Gigger Mahi & a Sailfish or two but that has just been about it for us but things will start to change in a couple of weeks when the Wahoos & Saildogs become more friendly which will last into the Fall. Tuesday was the only day offshore for us which resulted only for a few fish so I told my crew for Wed. how much fun we had talked them into doing an all day inshore. We started in the inlet & caught all the Spanish Macks a person could want & then decided it would be Kings Macks & Mahis so out a little deeper we went. It was kinda slow for the first hour then wham double header Sailfish we caught one but never got a hook to stay in the other we made a few circles & had a couple more shots which did not work out so we headed right on down the beach. It sure is nice to catch these fish in 50-60 ft. of water. We came across some hard bottom & maked some decent bait & caught a few Mahis & Kings & stopped to jig a little for the Amberjacks & then back to trolling. We manged to have a steady pick all day long it was no red hot bite by any means but it sure beat going offshore trolling around & not catching nothing. We stayed within 25 miles from shore all day. I am glad we made the decision stay in close because it paid off for us. I believe a person that wanted to take some kids to tug on something could have alot of fun on the nearshore wrecks with the Barracuda, when we stopped to jig they were just swarming around the boat. They are plenty of Spanish & Kings near the beach which brings plenty of action to the youngsters. On a positive note it seems that fuel has dropped a little which means my offshore trips have dropped $100.00 lets hope this will continue but of course if the fuel goes up again we will have to do the same.
