Report:
Using the free passes Jason won for the Capt. John yesterday in the Keyport snapper tournament, we arrived early and secured our favorite position on the pulpit. While I busied myself tying rigs on our arsenal of rods, Jason attempted to sabiki up some live bait. He succeeded in getting 1 snapper & 2 baby sea robins.

Once the we left the slip, we made the long steam over to Ambrose. Arrived at slack low. also arrived to find a nice ground swell coming in from the east. Those 2 factors made for very little action. Although 1 keeper was caught (eventual pool of @ #5) the 2 or 3 shorts and half dozen sea robins didn't warrent us staying there. Made 1 quick drift off the west side of the Knoll into Chapel Hill Channel before heading out to towards the end of Sandy Hook Channel where we joined a decent sized fleet. We did find action here, nothing great but at least rods were bending, Jason and I caught our share of sea robins and about 5 short fluke each over the several drifts we made there. Ended the day by the ammo pier where one the first drift I took a keeper, soon followed by Jason taking a keeper that was a challenger to the pool fish but fell just a little short.

Slow day as the approximate 45 fares took home only 11 keepers.

Jason and I both had the most success using a 3 or 4 ounce Spro with a small hook that trailed behind it about 12-14"s baited with 2 spearing
