Report: We spent the entire trip fishing the eastern end of Ambrose Channel looking for some late season fluke. The guys that were fishing the smaller baits caught fish all day with most being shorts. There were keepers boated also as most of the fares averaged 2-3. I stayed with my larger live baits, and although I caught fish, none of them were fluke. The channel is harboring quite a few bluefish and striped bass and they too like live spots. Along with numerous bite-offs I managed to land 4 bluefish and 1 striper. The bass was 32" and weighed in at 11.1 lbs. Other short bass were caught on fluke baits and Ed managed 3 shorts on a jig. The fish were on top at times chasing baitfish. The fact that we still have bass with the warm water temps is a good sign and hopefully the fall bass season will kick off early this year. This is my favorite time of the year and the best is yet to come. Tight Lines! TINKNOCKER
