Report:
Well it was good to be on the water again it looks like we dodged a bullet from Hurricane Hanna last week & things are shaping up for the fantastic Fall fishing Morehead City is known for. Mahi - Mahi are back in good numbers once again from Gaffers to Bailer size fish along with the Fall Wahoo bite. We picked at the Gaffers off & on yesterday & even stopped to do some bailing with the smaller ones on the spinning rods. We could have easily caught a limit of Dolphin but Wahoo & Sailfish was the target species. First thing as we set lines out we caught a couple of Dolphin & moved on out a little deeper then we had a Wahoo bite so I started circling a good bait mark & the fun began. The next bite was a Sailfish that was doing everything he could to get in the boat with us I heard a couple of clicks from my left Teaser & he was eating it up. I said Sail Fish left teaser we dropped a bait back & tried to get him off of it but he was determined to eat it he followed it past the stern of the boat under the Rigger once the pitch bait had his attention it was on he piled on it at the back of the boat. He put on a fantastic show for the crowd to see & it was the anglers first Billfish ever. Once everybody done the high fives we were back at it again with a couple more Wahoo bites we even had a Triple on at one time but we only managed to give two of them a free boat ride to Morehead. We had another shot or three at the Sails we did manage to get another release & then a weed line moved in on us & then it was Mahis if you wanted them or not. We got attacked by the Bailers which was fun for a while but then we moved on trying to catch another Wahoo. I came across some big grass patches later which was loaded up with Mahis from Bailers to Gaffers. I am glad to see the Fall fishing starting to take off again next thing you know it will be Bluefin Tuna time. BTW new things fixin to happen with S2N more on this later.
