Report:
PM 1/2-day trip. Conditions looked good -- with no wind, the boat drifted nicely with the incoming tide. I tried bucktailing, gulp and dragging bait. But all I could manage were 4 short fluke and 1 sundial. Late in the trip, bluefish surfaced near us. I had 3 hookups in a short time using a 007 jig w/ yellow tail. Landed 1, dropped 1 lifiting it in, and pulled the hook on 1 after a long fight that took me from the bow to the stern. Congrats to Capt. Hal for sailing w/ only 7 fares, and also making a move at the end to put us on the bluefish for the 2nd time.
After leaving the Sea Tiger II, I drove to the Western Sandy Hook Bay spot. It was high tide, and there was action on the sandbar. Not on every cast, but action. I landed 2 bluefish on the 007 jig and 8 on a pencil popper. Others threw the lure on the jump.
