Subject: Navesink River, New Jersey

  • Fished on 6/20/2009

    Water Temperature: Unknown
    Water Clarity: Murky
    Seas: <1'
Weather: Overcast w/Rain; Light Southerly winds
    Fishing_for: Fluke
    Boat: Rental
    captain: Jim

    Report:
As we did on Tuesday, Jim and I basically had the river all to ourselves along with a couple of other brave souls. Evidently the weather report kept everyone else home. As we always do, very light tackle with 1/4oz to 1/2 oz jigs was what produced for us today. Jim fished a small jig with a Gulp and killie while I stayed with my tandem shad dart rig tipped with killies for the fish we caught today. I missed more hits and lost more fish on the way to the boat than I usually do, but we still managed 6 keepers out of the 29 fluke that we landed while releasing many that were just 1/8" short of the mark. If we had connected on all of the hits that we had our catch probably would have doubled as the river is harboring a decent population of fluke. Tight Lines! TINKNOCKER
