Report: The fluke fishing continues to heat up in the waters off of Long Island. Boaters have been reporting that they have caught up to 50 fish while only keeping 2. There is plenty of action and that's what it is about. Much of the fluke action has been near the J1 Buoy southwest to the McAlister grounds. For best results, use bucktail and teaser rigs or two dropper loops with teasers and a sinker. Tip these rigs with either spearing or Berkley Gulp swimming mullet in white or chart.
The bays have been the better producers for more keeper fluke. Fish the State Channel from the Big M to the 3rd Wantagh, including Goose Creek and Haunts Creek. Fishing the last of the flood and first of the outgoing tides is best.
Striped Bass fishing has slowed as signs of summer are more prevalent. There are still some bunker in the ocean to the east and west of Jones Inlet.
