Report:
After a 58 month long wait (since Hurricane Ivan virtually destroyed the old 850' pier) the 1540' Gulf State Park Pier (in Gulf Shores, AL) reopened the week of July 20th. Here is a link to the official State Park website (Rates, Rules & Regs). http://www.alapark.com/GulfState/Gulf%20State%20Park%20Pier/

I fished Mon-Fri of opening week and the catches were phenomenal. Many flounder and king mackerel (to 31#) were caught along with nice spanish mackerel, redfish, black drum and some speckled trout. Also there have been THOUSANDS of 1#-3# bluefish landed.

Sure am glad to get our pier back (bigger and better than ever ;-) Thank You Lord!
