Report: I fished the south shore of Raritan bay this evening plugging for bass. As I made my way out onto the bar it soon became evident that tonite was the right time to be there. Occasionaly breaking fish could be seen chasing pods of bait farther out in the bay and it would only be a matter of time before they were in range of a cast. In my haste to catch that first fish I snapped off my popper when the Power Pro caught on the bail of the reel. After re-tying it wasn't long before I was fighting my first bluefish of the evening. The smallest fish I caught was a 6lb bass to go along with 6 blues from 8 to 11 #'s and my first keeper bass of the season at 33" weighing 12 1/2lbs. All of the fish were caught fishing surface plugs and I did donate a few to the voracious bluefish. It is all worth it however, as I believe that fishing surface plugs is the most exciting way to fish in the fall. Tight Lines! TINKNOCKER
