Report:
Well, the predicted nor'easter had me wondering if this would be "the one" that fishermen's dreams are made of. It wasn't.....not for me. The surf was roiled and dirty. I only saw small groups of birds in two areas, both around Monmouth Beach. Many casts with a Hopkins Shorty (the only metal that could cut the wind)did not produce a thing. The surf was getting dangerous and fishing from the rocks was out of the question. SeaBright was flooded. Several of the marina's parking lots were underwater. There was no beach left along the seawall.
A drive south, along the coast, showed much of the same ocean conditions. A stop in Manasquan produced nothing and a stop at "the rail" was also unproductive. It didn't look as bad as the nor'easter that covered the parking lot in Manasquan a while back, but the waves crashing over the north jetty were impressive. I did see some hickory shad splashing in the cove but opted to call it a day. The areas that usually flood in Manasquan were flooded even at low tide. The area around Stockton Lake showed signs of high tide on people's front lawns. Our dock in Brielle had debris from the high tide on top of it. I probably should have gone to the bug light or one of the coves in Sandy Hook but again, with my luck, if I went there, they would have been all over the ocean.
