Water Temperature: . Water Clarity: Ok Seas: rough, calming in the PM Weather: Sunny, strong NW wind, calming by mid afternoon. Fishing_for: Striped bass Boat: 18-ft Parker CC captain: Rodney
Report:
Rodney and Ping asked me to join them, hoping for a repeat of the action in Raritan Bay 2 weeks ago. As we entered the bay from GK Harbor we saw no birds in any direction and no fleet of boats. We stayed in the lee of the NW wind along the SI shoreline, and finally Coney Island. There, we saw some birdplay, but the birds kept moving and casting lures resulted in no hits. Moving to join a small scattered fleet off Breezy Pt, we eventually were able to land 4 stripers using Gator/Krocodile spoons. All the bass were quickly released as the largest was 24".
