Water Temperature: . Water Clarity: dirty at Mantoloking, seemed OK at Brick Beach Seas: swells Weather: Brisk W wind, sunny, ideal fall weather for beach fishnig, but the W wind was not enough to knock down the swells. Fishing_for: Striped Bass Boat: None, beach fishing captain: .
Report:
Started at Manotloking. Looked at Lyman St. and the the 2 access spots to the immediate N. All 3 beach access spots were closed -- boarded up, because of recent storm damage to the stairways. The beach access at Downer Ave. was open. Tried there for a while. Water looked dirty and the swells were heavy. No visible bait, no working birds. Not the right combo, so I moved S about 1.5 miles to Brick Beach I. Plenty of beach buggies here; they are are not allowed at Mantoloking, nor anywhere N of Brick Beach. Some birds working in a few inches of water, picking up sandeels, and some fishermen casting lures from the sandbars. Picking out a sandbar that had bidplay in very shallow water, I eventually caught 1 striper, 26" on a 1-1/2oz Kandlefish spoon. That was my only fish, and only hit, for the afternoon. I saw a handful fo stripers hooked by others, but the number of fish hooked was much less than the number of lure throwers.
