Report:
This was the first opportunity for Jason & I to get in a few weeks. When we broke the inlet we turned south but with no life to be found and turned back north. Our first stop was off Spring Lake. Really nothing to write home about. A pair of stripers, a fluke, skate and a sea robin. Continued north until just north of Asbury. The bite was a little better but no great shakes. Our next drift started off on fire, unfortunately it was all spiny dogfish but in an instant it switched to 90% bluefish and 10% bass. Fast action for close to a hour. Next drift still produced but was a little slower. Towards the end of the day it mostly spiny dogfish again. Jason landed 2 short bass and TMC dogfish. I had 8 bluefish to just under #16 and a dozen dogfish. @ 40 keeper bass taken for a full boat with an equal number of shorts. I fished a plain A47 and Jason bounced between a plain A47, a green-tailed A47 and a hammered A47. Pool winning bass was 33"s.
