Lots of shorts to pick through. Wind against tide early. Most of the boats fished in the bay and along the area near the bug light and across the mouth. We fished off the Navy pier near some of the many fish traps which were still being dropped by the commercial boats. With very little drift early, I was able to jig a 1 oz Spro tipped with a Gulp minnow and a Gulp mullet dropper. Most of the fish ate the dropper. A move down the beach to south of the nude beach put us into some better fish and some trash fish as well. We took some keepers here and I jigged quite a few on the small Spro including a 24" fish. The southeast wind started howling and it was over. Most of the fish along the beach were in fairly close. The four of us put a dozen keepers in the boat by putting in a lot of work. Killies and squid worked for everyone else. A stop at the pound nets gave us some action but no keepers. My tally for the day was five keepers with another 30 or so throwbacks from 6" up to 17"
