Report:
Took a mental health day and relaxed around the house before Jason and I headed down to the boat in the afternoon. We were 2 of the 12 fares last night.
Started out by the #33 buoy of the Reach. conditions were such that with the last of the incoming and west wind we didn't drift much. However, we were able to pick away at the fluke. 95% were in the 16-17" class. I believe just 1 keeper was taken on this drift. Moved slightly to the east and really didn't do much. We made another move to the east and started a long drift that lasted the rest of the night. Along the way we'd encounter nice pockets of fish. All aboard caught as many 16-17" fluke they wanted. 6 keepers were put aboard to a pool winner of #4. Also had a few encounters with some cocktail blues. I had 1 keeper fluke (out of the 17 I boated) and 1 bluefish. Jason had 16 shorts. I stuck to bouncing a 1.5 ounce Spro tipped with a 4" chartruse GULP swimming minnow with a standout hook rigged above it tipped with a 3" GULP new penny shrimp. The fluke were inhaling the shrimp, literally to the knot. 14 out my 17 fluke came on the shrimp. Jason stuck with bait all night and did best with a spearing.
