Report:
We probed around several snags on both reefs but could not connect with any numbers of fish. We opted to drift the snags and did not anchor. As we checked many of our hangs, we didn't see much life on them either. What was interesting about our catch was what we caught. Besides a few legal seabass and fluke, we also caught a dozen very small weakfish. The largest might have been six inches. They should be in the river or the bay. Later in the day, we caught false albacore about two miles off Pt. Pleasant. They call them "little tunny" and these were little. The biggest was 10 inches. They were chasing bait on the surface.
As we were fishing the south end of the SeaGirt Reef, our neighbor was fishing the north corner and doing well with keeper fluke up to 5lbs. in a very tight area. Everything changed by the time we got there especially the drift which disappeared just like the fish. We should have gone bluefishing since some of the party boats were back at the dock before 2 P.M.
