Report: This morning was a fine way to end the 2012 fluke season in the Manasquan River. The freezer is filled and tomorrow night's meal will have a Jersey Fresh flavor (fresh fluke, potatoes, tomatoes, salad, peppers, etc).
On the incoming tide with its clean water, the fluke were hungry. Once the tide started to ebb, the upstream dirty water from the recent rains caused the fluke to turn off. There must be millions of snapper blues and blowfish in the river, and they favored my Gulp offerings. Pesky little devils.
Now it's time to hit some of the offshore spots for various species as I wait for the striped bass run to start.
