Sailed with alight crowd for a holiday weekend with @20 fares. Left in the dark at just after 6AM. Made a right after breaking the Inlet and we came across peanut bunker just south of Mantaloking right around false dawn. Had a steady pick of bass in both bonus 24-28" class bass as well as 'unders' in the 28-43" class. Moved south and tighter to the beach off of Lavalette and once again we had a steady pick. By now it was around 8:15 and for the rest of the day we didn't catch another fish nor have any bites the fleet reported the same-although trollers were still able to pick a few). We tried tight to the beach, off the beach and just short of the 3 mile line. We read piles of fish on the sonar but they did not want to chew. Jason boated a 24.5 and a 35 incher (I missed my only 2 bites for the second week in a row). Boat total was 7 bass in the 28-43" class to a pool winning 38"er and 8 in the bonus 24-28" class along with a handful of short bass. All were caught in 6 inch white shads with the exception of one taken in a 2 ounce Mojo.
