My son Jason is back from school and joined me this morning. We arrived towards the very end of the incoming tide. Jason started off throwing a hammered gold A47 with a red tail and I settled on3 ounce bucktail tipped with a Mr. Waffle soft plastic. No action for either of us to begin so I switched to a 5" Storm Shad. After a few cast I hooked up as I was fighting mine Jason also hooked up. Mine eventually broke off but Jason put a nice #7 over the wall. I had two more bites on the shad but never came tight. I then switch to a 1.5 jig head with a 6" pink shad tail. On my second cast I hooked up again. The fish inhaled the jig. As I was lifting it to bring it over the wall the weakened line broke but since we were releasing fish I counted this as a caught fish. No other action during the end of the flood and through the slack. Once the outgoing tide started moving a bit the two anglers to our immediate left hooked up on swimming plugs. Jason and I both tied on plugs. I went with a SP minnow and Jason with a Rapala X-Rap- both in bunker pattern. It was pretty much game on for us for the next hour. By the time we left we combined to put 13 bluefish on the sand (he edged me out 7-6) from #3-7. Others throwing similar plugs also caught a few but it seemed as if Jason and were the only ones receiving steady action. Once the tide got to low the bite died off and we called it a day.
