Jason and I were part of a very light crowd of 8 last night. We weren't sure what to expect as the previous night's trip and the earlier day trip were slow. Plus, we had wind against tide conditions. First drop lasted 30 minutes and yielded no action. Went on the search and after a 20 minute hunt we dropped anchor on our second and final drop. Took about 15 minutes before Jason hooked up and put a #7 bluefish in the boat. Action was slow but steady pick developed. We were all fishing bait until one angler started throwing a Hopkins and hooked up. Another started throwing a shad and had mediate action. Jason started throwing a white 6" shad and boated another blue while also having a bite off and a missed bite. Eventually I started throwing a shad and also had a missed bite and bite off. Later in the trip, I had another bite off on bait. A dozen-15 or so blues were boated for the trip up to a pool winning #14+ with equal if not slightly greater number of bite offs. Close to 50-50 between bait or artificials. No bass on the trip.
