Report:
Nick joined Jim & me to fish the Navesink this morning. It was a tough bite once again as we would try several different areas for a slow pick of fish. Nick brought a pint of killies with him from South Jersey which proved to be our only salvation. Although Jim managed a couple on his jig combo & I managed to catch 6 fluke on my usual bucktail/teaser combo, it wasn't until we started drifting the killies around mid-morning that the bite improved somewhat. It still wasn't what I would consider to be good, but it was acceptable. Nick ended the day with 7 shorts all on killies. Jim caught 8 fluke and managed to land a limit out of the 6 fish he caught on the killies. I wound up with 14 fluke, with one being a keeper out of the 8 that I landed on the killies. The fish are not very aggressive and just seem to be reacting to a very slow presentation directly on the bottom. Take it for what it's worth, fish deep and slow, for now. Tight Lines! TINKNOCKER
