SUBJECT: Surf fishing in SC

I will be heading to Harbor Island SC the first week of July and would love to spend the week surf fishing. The problem is, I have never surf fished in the ocean before. I could use any pointers, tips, best baits to use, etc. I have an old Penn surf caster reel and a 12' pole, I am planning on buying the remainder of the supplies when I arrive. responses here or to my email would be great and any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
