SUBJECT: # 8858: What's the problem with Patrick???

Submitted by sandman from TEXAS on 8/14/02 9:10:00 PM

I stop by here every now and then and all he seems to do is offer suggestions or help. Every time that he posts, it seems like some folks start in on him. Saw a bunch of stuff about him on a couple of other sites that looked like the poor guy had the plague. Patrick, I don't know what it is but if I were you, I would come up with another handle.

When I was younger, like 15 or 16, I admit, I was a bit of a handful. I'm 20 now and some folks just can't seem to let it go.

I'm the immature one though. Go figure eh?

I refuse to come up with another handle. I am Patrick. That's all I am. I refuse to become someone else because some people on the internet want me to. It's not going to happen. No way no how.

I am Patrick. I am who I am.

why carry all of that baggage around? Why fight it? We were all a 'handful' when we were teenagers. We all knew everything LOL. Change gears and just put it behind you man. Life's too short to let that kind of stuff keep nagging you. If you're ever down on the Texas coast, drop me a line and I'll show you some beaches that you can fish with a buddy and still have a mile or ten between you.

I don't drag it around with me. People like to bring it up. It's not like I'm the one who says, "Hey remember on March 15 of 1997 when I said..."

There are some people out there that like to make others miserable. I'm far from miserable and if I was, they wouldn't be the cause. I've made peace with a bunch of people and I'm willing to do so with anyone who wants to. The fact is, they don't want to. For some reason, they want it to continue. Perhaps because it's the most interesting thing happening in their lives? Maybe because it was a popular thing to do and they just didn't catch on that it was over? Or it could be because they have a void in their life. They can post with a handle yet stay anonymous to the rest of the world?

Now, I'm not saying I would do anything, but I think it would be funny to see how their bosses would react. For hom or her to see how mature their trusted employee is. I would never do that because some of these guys somehow managed to impregnate a woman and have responsibilites.

Sandman, this is why I believe in Karma. No blood on my hands. No need to plot revenges. I just let their own demons deal with them. Works out easy for me. All I have to do is lay back and enjoy.

It would be nice to start over but it's just not possible.

You know what, I had no idea Patrick was so young, but I don't really see how that's relevant here. Boards represent an exchange of ideas, take 'em if you like 'em or leave 'em if you don't. I've got to admit, I tried a few of those unconventional riggings Patrick swore by (and was sworn AT for suggesting them) and actually had some luck. I saw some of the posts from when Patrick claims to have been a 'handful', and he didn't get obnoxious until he was backed into a corner. Heck, I'm pretty obnoxious then myself.

Now, Jaime from Arts'n'Flies explained his reason for being insenced below, and that's the way it should be. We ought to be able to say what upsets us about one another so that we can address the problems.

It's been a quite a while since I took the time to surf the surf fishing boards (almost two years) while I explored other aspects of fishing, but I'm glad to see this board remains primarily a pleasant exchange of tips and suggestions.
