Submitted by jo (207.218.245.17) from TEXAS on 4/6/2001 12:27:00 AM

What is the pay of a 6-pack offshore captain working for a owner who receives $1200.00 per charter.

How big is the boat? Twin Diesel or gas? Deck hand or not? Private owned or company owned? Captain furnishes tackle, boat furnishes tackle? As you can see it can vary greatly. Average on a sportfisher with a mate is probably around $400-500

I am about to start running a 25 foot mako for a captain down in Venice. He charges 750 for an offshore trip and will pay me 200 a day. It is a twin honda 130 powered boat and I have to provice MY own tackle. I would say you should get about 300 a day to run that boat maybe 400 if your own tackle.

Take into consideration the possibility the captain is on salary and not a per-trip pay situation. It happens.
