SUBJECT: # 35186: Power Pro Line?

Submitted by Billy Jack from TEXAS on 6/21/01 1:05:00 AM

I read about power pro line often on this message board. What is it and who makes it? Living 650 miles from saltwater in west Texas I don't see a lot of saltwater orientd gear.

I've been using Fireline for a few years now and love it. Most tackle stores around here don't carry it though. Instead, they have suddenly started carrying Power Pro. I've inspected the PP and it doesn't look much different than Fireline other than it has a definite braided look to it. I count that as a negative since any of this spectra stuff can wear on guides and reel parts. On top of that, I've begun to suspect that these no-stretch lines transmit noise from the rod to the water like an old tin can and string telephone.

Is there anybody here who has fished with both and can offer some first hand testimonial about the differences?

    TIA,

    Tommy

I used to use Fireline. Then 2 years ago I picked up a friends spinning rod and reel that was loaded with 20 lb Power Pro and I've been using Power Pro ever since because it has the least amount of bad characteristics of any of the other Spectra lines. Try it and you'll see why so many people are switching.
