SUBJECT: # 35347: Kingfish & Ribbonfish

Submitted by Shel from FLORIDA on 7/2/01 7:57:00 PM

Would like to know other opinions on what is the best size (length) of ribbonfish to use as bait for kingfish. Smaller 18" to 22" or big 32" to 36" Turbos, which work better? Also, what size hook works best for the lead hook (the hook thru the mouth)in the larger ribbonfish? Thanks in advance. Shel

I like the big ones, but you never know. I like to think they can be seen farther away, but that is just guessin' on my part. Use a 7/0 on the nose and another one (or two) down the body, and a treble stinger. Hopefully, the King will either bash his head or tear it in two on the first pass.

I saw a real monster sky on what looked like a 2 ft spanish two weeks ago, man what a sight! He must have gone 20ft straight up.
