SUBJECT: # 35400: We finally won our first tournament....

Yesterday we were in a fluke tournament sponsored by the marina/boat association we belong to (Monmouth Cove Boat Owners Assoc.). There were about 50 boats entred, more of a freindly bet than a real tournament but a fun day none the less. We took the top place with a 7lb 11oz fluke that I was lucky enough to catch. In all we had 12 keepers and 5 of them weighint over 5 pounds. The next largest fish we had was caught by my uncle and weighed 6lbs 3oz.
Second place was a 7lb 1oz fluke and third place was a tied with 5lb 1oz fluke. We could have taken first and third but they only allow one catagory per boat to keep the contest fair and fun. Not that we are complaining, we are thrilled we did as good as we did.
We had a fantastic day with great weather and just a good time all around.

The fishing has been great and we had lady luck on our side. The best part was that we had great weather and I was able to spend some quality time with my family.My father was really excited since we never did this well in our lives. He has been fishing fluke for about 40 years and I have been for about 25 so its nice to think the conservation efforts are paying off.
