I own a 32 ft. CC with twin 250 ox66 Yamaha's. When the weather gets right, I would like to extend the range I have by putting additional fuel on the boat. Say 50-60 gals. Any suggestions would really help.

If you have a raised platform in front I woudld suggest using a brass three or four way copper air switch that you can get from lowes or any harware store run the gas line to a other three way before your water separator. You can use the larger plastic tanks that come in a variety of sizes and hold them down with a stainless hold down that is used in a sail boat application. It looks like one of the u shapes that come with those outrigger packs but the u is joned by a flat strip. I held the tanks in place with the nylon straps on the tank ribs. One other comment, allways use the tanks on the way out. It helps you track ussage vs range and clears the tanks of gas so that you won't have to bother with the smell. I did this type of setup so that the tanks can be removed when not needed and the all the tank switching can be done with out unpluging gas lines. Good luck.

Sells 26 gal Moellers for 105 bucks. You can buy Tempo 28 gal for about 150 each. Really all you need to do is tie them into the extra intake port on your filters, but you will need to install shut off valves on both intake ports on each filter because you'll need to shut the main off to make it pull from the small tank. The only problem is I can't think of decent disconnect to use outside of just pulling the hose off the hose barb on the filter. You can't feed a 250hp outboard on a regular outboard fuel plug.
I mean I figuring you just set and fill them in the back corners of the boat. Burn them off first on the way out, disconnect then store them some where out of the way. There should be somewhere to store them on a 32 footer.

Remembered where I read about this - Dave Pascoe mentioned it in the Contender review at www.yachtsurvey.com - apparently it is a technique for going to the Bahamas in an open boat.
I've had jerry cans and portable tanks on deck in open boats with nary a problem. As long as the drum is secured I don't see why not.
