SUBJECT: # 37611: How to Sharpen a Gaff ?

Submitted by KenG (155.103.6.254) from NEW JERSEY on 6/20/02 11:24:00 AM

I bought a new Pompanette 6' gaff (3" hook), and the point is pretty dull. Anyone have any good ideas on how to sharpen it? I have my hook sharpener, flat metal files, and grinder. Thanks, Ken.

After all that protect the tip with a piece of hose or something else to prevent accidents. I'm sure you don't want to have to leave just when you start catching fish that are big enough to gaff. Good Luck...Capt. Pete Silot
