SUBJECT: # 37691: Galveston Bay

Submitted by East Texas Rookie (209.34.34.163) from TEXAS on 7/8/02 9:48:00 PM

Taking the family to Galveston Bay area (Bolivar), week of July 22. This will be our first trip to the area. Don't know anything about navigating or fishing this area. Any help would be apreciated.

There are lots of areas for you to fish but you didn't say if you had a boat or not. You can fish the north jetty or wade at the base of it known as boliver pocket. Rollover pass is also in your area and you can fish off the bank or wade the bay side, be careful of the strong currents. Fishing the surf close to High island is another option. If you have a boat I would recommend buying a top spot map of the area at Academy. It has locations and coordinates of several reefs and wade spots of east bay accessible by boat only. East bay is a hot spot this time of year at Hanna's, Peppergrove and Deep reefs to name a few. Hope this helps you catch a few fish.
