SUBJECT: # 37761: Word of caution on inflatable life jackets. Submitted by Jerk (205.188.209.14) from NORTH CAROLINA on 7/22/02 12:23:00 AM I kept my Sospenders locked in my electronics box in its original zippered pouch. First thing I saw today when I got to my boat was that someone had busted into my electronics box. When I opened the door to see what was missing, I discovered that my vest had inflated, from the high heat I suppose, and it had tried to bust out instead of someone breaking in. Did a number on the box, pushed the bottom down and cracked it in three places, both bottom corners of the door opening and right down the middle from the lock. As if that wasn't bad enough, it must have then punctured itself because it was flat when I got there. I haven't checked it out yet. So, you might want to think about where you store them, and give them room to inflate without damaging themselves, or something else.
