SUBJECT: # 38908: Fishing Grand Cayman in January ??

Submitted by John Newell (66.76.144.197) from TEXAS on 12/10/03 1:10:00 PM

My father is making a trip to Grand Cayman in early January... He asked me to see what I could find out on what type of fishing he should do? What is biting that time of year offshore? Inshore? Which do you think would be better between offshore and inshore?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated... Charters?

    John,

Fishing offshore in January is usually very good and your dad can expect wahoo, tuna and some dolphin with a pretty fair shot at marlin as well. I suggest you try Capt Derrin at 345-926-2525 for charters. He is a young captain with a 40' Viking but he does know how to catch fish!

Just south of Grand Cayman it's 3 to 4 MILES deep,23358 feet at the deepest part. My two cents says I'd be trolling offshore for a fish that weighs more than I do.
