SUBJECT: # 39268: Sailfish, how close in in NC?

Submitted by John (64.100.192.19) from NORTH CAROLINA on 8/30/04 3:46:00 PM

Folks,

I am curious, I have seen sails jump in Pamlico sound, I have even seen on hit a king rig on the old Emerald Isle pier. My question is how close to shore do you see them with any regularity?

In the late summer you can routinely see sails around most any nearshore wreck or reef. You don't commonly see entire schools of sails as you would in the winter off Florida. Jay
