Due to leave for South Florida in 2 days and whenever I apply the brakes , all lights go out until I let up. Turns work as do running lights until I hit brakes. It is a 99 Suburban and a Loadmaster trailer. Any ideas where to start? Thanks

Look for shorted/pinched wires particullarly around the tounge where the harness goes into the trailer. Also assure your grounds are good, they can cause all kinds of weirdness.

90+% of the time there is a ground problem that causes that kind of things. Make sure the white wires on the truck and trailer plugs are attached to the frames of each with no rust, paint or anything else that can keep the electrons away.

I was towing my baot with a 2002 silverado. As I put on the R turn signal, the dash and radiolights started blinking with the turn signal, they proceeded to dim as I hit the brakes. After replacing the bulbs without luck, I Replaced the fuses for the trailer parking and R turn signals. This solved the problem until I arrived at my destination only to find myself back at square one. I then checked and regrounded the white wire. I gave up and bought a new light kit. After correctly attaching everything, the lights work until the headlights are on and I press the brakes, the lights go out. all fuses are intact. I'm at my wits end. can someone please help
