SUBJECT: # 27650: Yamaha 704 Control Box

Submitted by The Englishman (66.202.66.48) from PENNSYLVANIA on 8/2/2006 9:09:00 AM

Gentlemen ;

I have on my 1990 20 ft Welcraft Fish a single 200 V6 Yamaha which is controled by the standard Yamaha 704 remote control box . My problem is the control lever will not go past 45 degees in reverse , forward or free accelorator . Your thoughts on this problem would be appreciated before I start tearing it appart.

    Sounds to me like a control cable has broken or is stuck. Disconnect the cables from inside the control box and see if it moves full range. If it still doesn't then your box may be in need of service. The control box is a little pricey at about $270.00 You can get one off ebay for under $200

    How do I adjust the tension on my remote control. I have a Yamaha 115HP Yamaha with the standard 704 remote control. If I take my hand off the throttle, it comes back rapidly - difficult to adjust trim tabs, etc.
