SUBJECT: # 27886: Floor Replacement

I'm looking at a 1989 Cobia 198ES (19'8")that has a good price mainly due to some soft spots in the floor. How hard is a floor replacement?

   I have replaced the floor and stringers on a 79 Glastron and a 74 Wellcraft with no previous experience. It came out fine. It was not difficult but it was work. If you can run power tools and lay fiberglass you can do this. Again this was the first time laying glass. I did my research and jumped in feet first. It is best to use marine plywood but back then money was tight and I used treated plywood. I kept both boats for about 5 yrs without any problems. I did keep them covered and never put them up wet. To me it was worth the hard work. Both times I ended up with a safe boat and motor for less than $2k. They maybe others on this board that may be more knowledgeable than I, But I will answer any other questions if the do not.....Good Luck!
