I have to replace my bilge pump on my Trophy. I bought a Rule-Mate thinking I could just swap out, but not so. My old pump was a Johnson/Mayfair and was wired like this. Float switch: Brown to TWO browns (hooked together) Black to yellow Brown/Red to Brown/RED
Pump: Brown to Brown (not the ones above) Black to Yellow
The Rule has : Brown Brown/White Black
My switch is just on/off.
Can anyone help figure out how to use the existing wiring (5 wires) with the Rule pump?
Thanks!

Bill Huffman #14290 from TX says Bilge pump wiring
Does your replacement pump have a built-in float switch? Or is it intended to operate only when you flip a switch? What do the instructions with the Rule say about wiring? Most likely, the black and brown connected to the two browns on the float is connected to the negative post at the battery (either directly or at a buss/bar); one brown from the float connects to the brown to the pump and provides ground for the float and pump; the black to yellow likely carries positive current from the float switch to the pump; and the brown red carries positive current from the battery to the float switch. This should help identify the function of the wires to your old switch and pump. You will need to check your instructions on the Rule but I suspect the brown is the ground wire, one of the other wires is for connection to a float switch, and the other to a manual on-off switch so it can be operated automatically or manually.
