SUBJECT: # 27913: OMC Outboard Remote Control

Submitted by Edward59 #14743 from MISSOURI on 10/4/2008 9:51:00 AM

The internal horn on my 1989 OMC Electric Start Outboard Remote Controller used to only beep when I started the boat motor. Now while the boat is running, the internal horn sounds every few minutes. What causes this and how can it be corrected.

That horn is your warning horn, it is now telling you something is wrong with your motor and to shut it down and get it fixed. I cannot think what the different noises mean, but one is over heating of the motor, one is low oil, one is no oil. Post this over on the Boats and Motors board, see above, and someone will tell you exactly what the different horn noises mean, but for now, do not start your motor.
