SUBJECT: # 27918: Tunnel hull on fishing boat

Submitted by Patriot (70.132.134.13) from TEXAS on 11/3/2008 5:45:00 PM

Folks I am thinking about buying a new 18-20 ft. bay boat this winter, but this time with a tunnel to run in the shallows. I noticed that several makers (Blue Wave, Kenner, etc.) offer this feature on some models. My question is do these tunnels really work and are they worth having? Do they pose any efficiency problems? Also, on a V-hull boat, does the tunnel compromise use of boat in near-offshore in heavy chop? Thanks for any and all advice.
