SUBJECT: # 27927: help with selecting my last boat

Submitted by Dougt (67.79.10.144) from TEXAS on 3/13/2009 10:51:00 PM

I am looking at buying an all purpose boat that I can fish the big lakes in Texas and also fish the bays and back waters and rivers. In the past an 1860 with a 50 hp has been proven to be insufficient on the big lakes like Sam Rayburn. I am thinking that a 2072 w/sponsons and a 115 4 stroke would be ideal, although maybe more costly than I prefer. An 1860 90 hp may work. Any ideas? Do you really need sponsons and tunnel hull pros and cons. Most of my fishing will be on lakes but I want to be able to use this boat at the coast also. What about jackplates, I also do the rivers. Also 2 stroke vs 4 stroke opinions.
