SUBJECT: # 13111: Edgewater warranty issue

Submitted by Don (205.184.162.38) from TEXAS on 12/14/1999 10:08:00 PM

I bought a new 185CC Edgewater this Fall after reading some of the posts on this board. After getting home, I was surprised to find a series of small hairline cracks in the gelcoat on top of the gunwale(I guess I didn't inspect the boat close enough at the dealer). I was not happy but the dealer indicated he would take care of the problem (fix the gelcoat) and had every intention of "making good". When they sanded the cracks out, they discovered that the cracks went all the way into the fiberglass and appeared to be a result of the mold sticking as there was an orange material in the cracks. I judge this to be a manufacturing defect and will not be satisfied with a hull repair or patch. Has anyone had an experience with Edgewater's Lifetime hull warranty or experienced similar problems? I am currently researching my options. Thanks for any info.
