SUBJECT: # 13231: Are older electronics going to be affected by Y2K?

Submitted by Rob D (128.6.251.191) from NEW JERSEY on 12/26/1999 9:54:00 PM

I'm looking at purchasing a boat soon with an extensive list of older electronics. I'm not sure of the exact model numbers now but they are about 9 years old and all working and they incude a raytheon radar, apelco 6400 loran, sitex fishfinder. I'm concerned that these electronics will not function normally after the new year. Do you guys have any ideas? Thanx Rob

I doubt that any of these items are date sensative. The typical sonar or loran unit does not know, or care, what year it is.

Old GPS could have a problem.
