Submitted by Steve L (204.60.49.156) from CONNECTICUT on 3/10/2001 11:24:00 AM

Need a survey done on a Glacier Bay 252 Cuddy 1997. Does anyone know a good & competent surveyor in the Jacksonville, FL region? Thanks. Steve L, CT

Dunk: Thanks for your input! I found 3 surveyors listed in the Jacksonville, FL area. I am sure that one of them will be able to help me out. Thanks again, Steve L, CT

Steve, thats a pretty new web site and I will be listed on it soon in the NJ section. I was certified by Navtech last year, but didn't join their outfit right away. Just recently I paid the fee and I'm waiting on another course to certify me to be able to inspect commercial fishing vessels for their saftey sticker. Why I need this I don't know, but it's a requirement. After that they offer a course in Damage and accident surveying I'll jump on shortly.

Navtech requires testing, SAMS and NAMS only requires the fee and two surveys to be called a Marine Surveyor and to listed with them on the web site.

Now I'm not saying this takes away from anyones ability as a Marine Surveyor, but I figured the one with the testing is the one I would grab first. At 3-500 a year to join them as members I thought Navtech offers more. I don't need 3 copies a month of the same CG info on boat recalls and saftey info related to boats.

These two addresses below are the other two. If you need them they also have listings of their surveyors.

    Here's someone for you:

Downing Nightingale, North Florida Marine Services, 3360 Lakeshore Blvd, Jacksonville FL 32210, 904-384-4356

My father has used him, he knows his stuff & has been at it a very long time. He's a former President of SAMS (Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors). Give him a call.
